Description: We carry a vast number of Toyota diesel engines. One of the most popular engines we stock is the Toyota 1HDT. Commonly out of the 80 series Landcruiser, the 1HDT is a 4.2ltr direct injection 6 cylinder diesel engine, running a single over head cam, and is one of the easiest engine conversions or turbo upgrades you can do to your tray back or wagon Landcruiser. Fitting one of these 4.2 ltr turbo engines to your Landcruiser is relatively easy. The bellhousing bolt up is the same as the 1HZ non turbo engine and all the electrics will swap over. The main point of interest to change when re-powering your 4wd would be the exhaust (plumbing your existing pipe to the turbo flange), air induction hose from your air cleaner box to the induction side of the turbo. It is also recommended to fit a heavy duty clutch to the manual model. This turbo diesel engine produced a whopping 123kw (165hp) @ 3600rpm. The 1HDT has also been used in boats as a marine engine, along with the non turbo 1HZ engine.
