From the release in 1999 through to the end of production in 2004, the F20C appeared in the AP1 S2000. In terms of N/A 4 cylinder performance engines, the F20C is unmatched. Boasting figures of 184kw (247hp) @ 8,600 RPM and 153ft.lb (207Nm) of torque @ 7,500 RPM, the F20C is close to performance figures seen of some 6 cylinder turbo charged engines. Whilst proving to be powerful and quick it is also a comfortable smooth drive and only drinks the fuel when its revving boundaries are tested. It is not out of place as a daily driver through the city at all. The only fault that is commonly thrown about is the lack of power and torque at lower RPMs. The standard tuning sees the F20C make a huge jump in power when the DOHC VTEC system engages @ 6,000 RPM. Before that, whilst comfortable there is a noticeable lack of power.

The F20C compares quite closely to Hondas later released K20A in the DC5 Integra. Power figures are quite similar although the K20A holds a slight advantage at lower RPMs.

The F20C is a rear wheel drive engine so does not commonly upgrade Honda vehicles. There are kits however to put the F20C into an EG, EK Civic or DC2 Integra as a front wheel drive engine. If you would like to know any more about this kit please enquire and you will be responded to.
